Vasilieva: believers in schools do not need to emphasize their faith with attributes

The head of the Ministry of Education Olga Vasilyeva said that the true believers are not trying to emphasize their attitude to faith by means of attributes, recalling the secular nature of education in Russia.

Earlier media reported that the leadership of Mordovia has demanded to ban the wearing of Muslim headscarves in educational institutions for teachers and students in the Tatar Belozerye.
"I do not think that the true believers are trying to emphasize attributes their attitude to faith ... We have to emphasize the secular character of education," - said Vasilyeva at a press conference on the results of 2016, commenting on the ban on the wearing of Muslim headscarves in schools.
In 2015, the Supreme Court upheld the ban on wearing headscarves in schools of Mordovia.
"Several years ago, the Constitutional Court decided that the hijab, as emphasized national identity, have no place in the school's why I believe that this issue was resolved by the Constitutional Court a few years ago." - Vasilyeva added.
Wearing the hijab and other religious attire in secular schools in Russia have repeatedly became a subject of heated debate in the community. On this occasion, President Vladimir Putin said that there is nothing good to wear the hijab in educational institutions: according to him, such a tradition in Russia, even in Muslim areas, has never been.
The first in the Russian ban on wearing headscarves in schools released Stavropol authorities in what they were supported by the Russian Supreme Court. Ex-Education and Science Minister Dmitry Livanov expressed the opinion that children who wear the hijab should study in religious educational institutions.
