Meeting on the protection of the rights of refugees

On February 2, 2018, a meeting was held between the Deputy Interior Minister, Major-General of the Militia Saidzoda Makhmadsaid Boron and the head of the Representative Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Tajikistan, Mr. Vito Trani.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the International Cooperation Department of the MIA, militia colonel Abdullozoda Zumrad, deputy head of the Passport and Registration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, militia colonel Safarov Nurali and other responsible officers.
At First Deputy Interior Minister, Major-General of Militia Saidzoda Makhmadsaid Boron, expressed his gratitude to the staff of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan for assistance in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as in matters of citizenship, international protection, training and professional development of law enforcement officials.
It was noted that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan pays much attention to regulating work with refugees and takes the necessary measures to protect their rights and security.
The State guarantees the observance of the basic humanitarian norms for refugees and asylum-seekers, including the enjoyment of the basic civil rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In this regard, the internal affairs bodies are ready to cooperate with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) within the framework of national legislation and international instruments.

The sides expressed their opinion on further strengthening of cooperation in the field of security and development of bilateral relations and voiced a number of proposals.
In turn, the head of the UNHCR Office for Refugees in Tajikistan, Mr. Vito Trani expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for mutually beneficial cooperation and support.
