Gulnazar Keldi


Gulnazar Keldievich Keldiev is a Tajik poet and journalist, national poet of Tajikistan, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR and Tajikistan, a member of the Union of Journalists of Tajikistan, known as the author of the words of the National Anthem of the Republic of Tajikistan. Winner of several national awards.

He was born on September 20, 1945 in the village of Dar-Dar of the Falgara district (now Aini district) of the Leninabad region (now Sogd region) (formerly Leninabad region) of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic. Father - Keldy Mirzoev (born in 1906), mother - Lola Mirzoeva (born in 1906).
In 1966 he graduated from the Department of Literature and Language of Tajik State University in Dushanbe. Immediately after graduation, he began working as a correspondent, later as deputy editor-in-chief of the youth newspaper “Komsomol Tojikiston” (“Komsomol of Tajikistan”). In 1968, Keldiev became a member of the Union of Journalists of the Tajik SSR. In 1973 he transferred to the post of deputy department of the literary magazine "Sadoi Shark" ("Voice of the East"). In 1975-1977, a translator of Soviet specialists in Afghanistan. In 1977 he returned to work in the literary magazine "Sadoi Shark." He worked as the head of the magazine department until 1991.
From 1991 to the present, he has been the editor-in-chief of the weekly Adabiyot wa Sanat (Literature and Art). In parallel with the work of a journalist, he writes poetry. His first published creative work was a collection of poems in Tajik: “Rasmi Sarbozi” (“Self-sacrifice”), published in 1969. This was followed by collections of poems in the Tajik language: Dastarkhon (1972), Nardbon (1975), Agba (1978), Smell (1981), Langar (1983), Pay Dary (1985) , “Chashmi nigin” (1988), “Tabhola” (1992); in Russian: “The Star of Ulugbek” (1981) and “The Nameless Spring” (1986), published by the “Soviet Writer” publishing house, as well as “The Shadow of the Mulberry Tree” (1989), published in Dushanbe. In 1988, in Dushanbe, a collection of poems on the Persian schedule “Takhti Rustam” was published. In 1973, he became a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR and Tajikistan. Keldiev translated Tajik poetry books by Marina Tsvetaeva, Rimma Kazakova, Mikhail Svetlov, Robert Rozhdestvensky, Nikolai Gumilyov, as well as individual poems and poems by Yuri Lermontov. As a result of a long competition held in Tajikistan, the new anthem of the State of Tajikistan was the anthem written by Keldiev (1994). He is also the author of the Tajik Tajik national anthem (1996). A confirmation of the versatility of the poet's work was his writing of two plays. The first of them, Mansouri Hallaj, is about a man who went to the square in the 10th century and said: “I am God myself!”. The second - “Itot Gazzali” - is dedicated to the famous scholar of the clergy, who defeated Khayyam, Farabi, Nizamulka in disputes. The poet’s work was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Tajikistan (1985), the Tursun-Zade Prize (1991), and work on the national anthem was awarded the Rudaki State Prize (1994). In 1995, he was awarded the title of Honorary Poet of Tajikistan.
